How did you meet?
We met when we were juniors in high school through mutual friends. Rummel boy and Chapelle girl. We officially met at a Mardi Gras parade!

What do you do?
I’m a NICU/nursery nurse and Brandon is a structural engineer.

What is your favorite thing about each other?
I love how easy it is for him to make me laugh. I can literally be in the worst mood and he still finds a way to lighten me up. He’s also the most caring and kind hearted person I’ve ever met. He would do anything for anyone.
– Amber

She is so driven and determined. I am too care-free sometimes, and she makes sure that my priorities are in order when they need to be. That in itself is a full-time job. Also, she has every great quality to be a terrific mother. It’s so easy to a future with her. To me, that is incredibly exciting.
-Brandon

How did the proposal go? Who proposed to who, tell us the goods!
I had known Brandon was going to propose “soon” for awhile. So, everytime we went somewhere I was expecting it. About a year after he bought the ring he finally decided to give it to me! We were planning on going to dinner that night with his family, and I was getting my nails done with his mom, sister, and sister-in-law. They had me put on a gel mask over my eyes as they were finishing my manicure, and Brandon took my hands and proposed there. Our whole family was there when I took off the mask! He somehow managed to COMPLETELY surprise me when I thought I had it all figured out!

Where was your ceremony held and why did you pick this site?
Ever since I was younger I was always in awe of how beautiful Holy Name of Jesus Church in New Orleans was (although I never knew what it was called). I always said I would get married there… and I did!
-Amber

Where was your Reception held and why did you pick this site?
Our reception was at Chateau Golf & Country Club. We have attended several weddings at Chateau and always have a blast! Plus, with our amount of guests, it seemed like the right play! We definitely made the right choice!

What unique or special things did you do at the reception?
We wanted our wedding to be the best party we ever attended and we think we achieved that! We had an ice luge/martini bar which was really neat -Our guests loved it. We also had a live painter, a photo booth, a memory table, glow sticks and tambourines. The highlight of the night though, was when Pierre the Pelican (New Orleans Pelicans mascot) showed up to surprise Brandon at the wedding!

Pick one moment in the day that was your favorite thing?
The first dance! Our song was so meaningful to us and it felt like we were the only people in the room.

Did it really go by as quickly as everyone sas?
YES! I really didn’t think it was true but it is!!! The beginning of the day is so long but once the ceremony starts it’s over in a blink!

What was the inspiration behind picking the color palette and decor that you picked?
Spring has always been my favorite season. I love neutral colors, metallics, and a soft, romantic look. I love the way everything came together!

From the Bride – When you first saw the groom, what were you thinking/feeling?
I was honestly so nervous walking down the aisle it’s hard to remember what my thoughts were. He looked so handsome standing up on the altar and I just kept telling myself to keep my eyes on him instead of everyone else. I couldn’t believe we were about to be married!!!

From the groom – When you first saw the bride, what were you thinking/feeling?
“Wow. She finally is getting to experience something that she deserves so much, and something that she’s looked forward too for so long. I’m genuinely happy that she chose me to share that moment with.”

Who was your baker, what was the flavor of your cake? Was it delicious?!
Swiss Confectionery! We did traditional almond with pineapple/buttercream and raspberry filling. Actually, neither one of us eats cake (we know that’s not normal)….. but we did the tastings like you’re supposed to and thought theirs was the best! They also looked exactly like what we wanted!

Did you have a coordinator or did you plan everything yourself? If you didn’t have a coordinator any advice for brides planning their own wedding?
I planned everything myself because I’m a huuuuge control freak, but Elizabeth Burkhardt was my “day of” coordinator and my biggest advice is to BOOK HER! She made my wedding week absolutely stress free and handled everything that night so that I could just enjoy myself!

What was your first dance song? Why this song?
“Use Somebody” by Kings of Leon – the band played it and slowed it down a bit. It has been “our song” since the day he asked me to be his girlfriend in 2009 and then left to go to their concert.

Band or DJ? Did they rock it?
Band!!! The Mixed Nuts were absolutely amazing! We danced all night.

e want to hear YOUR advice for future brides.
DO NOT STRESS OVER THE LITTLE THINGS! Enjoy the night. It’s over so fast. Things WILL go wrong. So many things! Just go with it. Everything will still be perfect.
