How did you meet?
My friend Alli and his sister work together! They set us up on a blind date and the rest is history!
Include a little bit about yourselves. What do you do?
Alexis is a mortgage lender, and Lance works with on government construction projects!
what is your favorite thing about each other?
Lance is the fixer of all things! There isn’t one thing he can’t do. He is currently redoing our home and making it into our dream home – remodeling is usually such a stressful thing, but he has made everything so easy and he is such a hard worker! He is so thoughtful and always puts me first.
Alexis can always make me smile no matter what, she has a good sense of humor and so kind and polite to everyone!
How did the proposal go? Who proposed to who, were you surprised?
Lance proposed to me at my home in Baton Rouge, He had said he bought my daughter Ava a special necklace and that he was going to surprise her with it! His plan was to ask Ava if he could marry me, but as 2 year old are so unpredictable, she was in a mood and it didn’t go as planned LOL so he ended up just asking me right after!
Where was your ceremony held and why did you pick this site?
The ceremony was at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. We love this location and the church is just beautiful!
Where was your Reception held and why did you pick this site?
The reception was at Maison Lafitte. The venue is right next to the church, and I love the overall look and it was so neat to have an outdoor area for dancing! All of the sales managers were so kind and friendly as well. Food was amazing!
What unique or special things did you do at the reception?
Sadly, we lost my little brother, Josh, last March unexpectedly…We had bottles of “Josh” wine served in his memory.
Pick one moment in the day that was your favorite thing.
Getting Ava dressed in her dress was so fun to see, and her first limo ride!
Did it really go by as quickly as everyone says?
Yes! It was like a blink, I can’t believe it has already been a month!
What was the inspiration behind picking the color palette and decor that you picked?
Greens and Golds inspired by the time of year – Christmas!
From the Bride – When you first saw the groom, what were you thinking/feeling?
He is so handsome in that tux!! And I couldn’t wait to party and dance the night away with him!
From the groom – When you first saw the bride, what were you thinking/feeling?
How beautiful you were!!
Who was your baker, and what was the flavor of your cake? Was it delicious?!
Dream Cakes by Violet
Highly recommend!!
Did you do a first look? If so how did you feel about it? If not, do you wish you had?
We did not, I was excited to see him first thing in church.
Did you have a coordinator or did you plan everything yourself? If you didn’t have a coordinator any advice for brides planning their own wedding?
I did everything myself! It is not as hard as you think, just be sure to document everything and keep all your vendors in touch with any changes etc. I have really good vendors that worked so well together, it was so easy!
What was your first dance song? Why this song?
Elvis – Can’t Help Falling In Love
We both love this song, and picked the Elvis version as Lance’s mom is a huge Elvis fan!
Band or DJ? Did they rock it?
Rock It Productions was absolutely amazing!
We want to hear YOUR advice for future brides.
Just go with the flow! Something is bound to go wrong, but remember the main reason for the day is because you and your spouse!
We work really hard to help come up with a timeline and plan for the portrait list to make sure you are getting the most out of your day. How useful was this for you?
The timeline was great! It really helped let everyone know what to expect.
