How did you meet?
We met at a bar in Hammond called Your Moms. We were both in school at Southeastern.
How did the proposal go?
We were at Seaworld in San Antonio and it was pouring rain and we were trapped alone in the penguin exhibit when he proposed!
Where was your ceremony held and why did you pick this site?
St. Joseph on Tulane Ave. I went to Mount Carmel and that’s where we had our graduation mass and I thought it was the most beautiful church I had ever seen.
Where was your Reception held and why did you pick this site?
Le Pavillon. When I was a senior in high school we had to do a ‘dream wedding project’ and Le Pavillon was where I picked my reception to be! So I knew immediately that’s where I wanted it.
What was your favorite part of the day?
Literally everything. It was the perfect day. But probably finally saying our vows.
Did it really go by as quickly as everyone says?
No hahaha! I made sure to enjoy each moment.
What was the inspiration behind picking the color palette and decor that you picked?
I love soft pastel colors for weddings.
From Jennifer – When you first saw Rodney, what were you thinking/feeling?
Pure love. He looked so handsome.

Who was your baker, what was the flavor of your cake? Was it delicious?!
Haydels. We did a white cake with praline filling (?) then strawberry with buttercream filling and vanilla pound cake. The groom’s cake was red velvet with buttercream filling
Did you do a first look? If so how did you feel about it? If not, do you wish you had?
No, and I’m glad we didn’t. I’m not sure he would’ve had the reaction that he had in the church if he had seen me.
Did you have a coordinator or did you plan everything yourself? If you didn’t have a coordinator any advice for brides planning their own wedding?
No coordinator. Just me and my mom. My advice would be to make a wedding day timeline. Minute by minute. That is very helpful.
Band or DJ? Did they rock it?
We want to hear YOUR advice for future brides.
Don’t stress the small things! Just enjoy your day!
Anything else you want to say?
My husband was in a serious wreck March 2, weeks before the wedding. It truly put everything into perspective for me. Our wedding day wasn’t about the flowers or the dress or the music, it was about our love for each other and God finally uniting us to be man and wife. Rodney was a trooper that day. He was in so much pain but he made it through the ceremony with only a cane and he even was able to sway for our first dance! It was the best day ever!
