How did you meet?
Davis and I met out one night completely randomly! After talking and a few drinks we exchanged numbers and a week later had our first date.

What do ya’ll do?
Katie is in Digital Marketing at Marriott and Davis is a Manufacturer’s Representative. Katie was born in New Orleans and Davis is originally from Greenville, South Caroline but we currently call Atlanta home. We are avid hikers and love the outdoors. Davis and I both love live music and one of our favorite hobbies is going to concerts and music festivals.

How did the proposal go? Who proposed to who, were you surprised?
Davis proposed to me a few days before Christmas in 2016. One of our traditions each year is to see the Christmas lights at our botanical gardens, so Davis took me there and surprised me with a proposal. He then took me to dinner where both of our parents were waiting to celebrate.

Where was your ceremony held and why did you pick this site?
Our ceremony was held a St. Louis Cathedral. Many of my aunts and cousins have gotten married here so it’s a bit of tradition in our family. My cousin is also a priest in the New Orleans Archdiocese and he was ordained here a few years ago.

Where was your Reception held and why did you pick this site?
Pat O’s on the River is another tradition in our family. We’ve had a lot of family events and weddings here and it is the perfect representation of New Orleans, from the food to the decor and view of the Mississippi river.

What unique or special things did you do at the reception?
One thing I really wanted to do was second line from our ceremony to the reception. Most of our friends and Davis’ family is from out of town so this was a great tradition to share with them! We kept the reception really simple, but I was excited to have New Orleans themed cake pulls for my bridesmaids since most of them have never been a part of that before. I also surprised Davis with a custom 2nd line umbrella. He isn’t originally from Louisiana and he went to Clemson so I was able to give him something really unique for our second line!

Pick one moment in the day that was your favorite thing?
It’s hard to pick one! Besides marrying the love of my life, the highlight for me was being able to dance with my Papa during one of the band breaks. As soon as a cajun song came on, he was ready to two step, and it was one of the most special moments of the evening.

Did it really go by as quickly as everyone says?
Yes, it definitely does! Although we were able to take our time with everything, the day really flew by and is by far the greatest day of my life!

What was the inspiration behind picking the color palette and decor that you picked?
The great thing about Pat O’s is you really don’t need to add anything! In addition, there is so much color and personality in New Orleans that Davis and I wanted to keep everything pretty neutral. With our grey blue and light pink palette, we were able to let the charm of New Orleans shine.

From the Bride – When you first saw the groom, what were you thinking/feeling?
When the doors opened in the church I was blown away by all of the emotion. I focused on Davis at the end and was so excited to see him there ready to get married.

From the groom – When you first saw the bride, what were you thinking/feeling?
She looked so beautiful and it was hard to stay still on the altar and wait as she walked down the aisle.

Who was your baker, what was the flavor of your cake? Was it delicious?!
Swiss Confectionary – Our cake was a white cake with raspberry filling and it was delicious! The grooms cake was really special – Swiss Confectionary was able to replicate an antique car Davis owns as the cut out of our cake.

Did you have a coordinator or did you plan everything yourself? If you didn’t have a coordinator any advice for brides planning their own wedding?
I didn’t have a coordinator, but the coordinator at Pat O’s was amazing. She confirmed everything with our vendors prior to the day of. I did plan everything and my advice is to keep it simple! The less details you need to worry about means way less stress leading up to the day. Also, lean on friends and family to help. Everyone was so eager to help me with things and it made it a lot easier to plan.

What was your first dance song? Why this song?
Our first dance song is The Luckiest by Ben Folds. He is one of our favorite musicians and we recently saw him perform with the Atlanta Symphony Orchastra.

Band or DJ? Did they rock it?
Band. Souled Out absolutely rocked it! People were on the dance floor all night long and they were so much fun and sounded amazing. No one wanted the party to end.

We want to hear YOUR advice for future brides.
Just reiterating the above – Keep it simple and lean on friends and family to help with your day. Also, sit back and try to enjoy as much as possible! Davis and I promised each other we would stop together to really take in every moment and it helped us stay connected.

Anything else you want to say?
THANK YOU Studio Tran! Beebe and Lauren were beyond wonderful. I didn’t know what to expect by the both of them were far above anything I could have imagined. Their attention to detail and ability to capture every single thing we wanted was amazing. When the church told us we only had 10 minutes to get our pictures on the altar, Beebe somehow got it all done. I am so incredibly grateful that they were there on our day!
