How did you meet?
We met on Tinder! Our first date was at the Bulldog Beer Garden in Baton Rouge.

We live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and I am originally from New Orleans. Michael works as a computer programmer and I am a medical speech-language pathologist. We have two fluffy kitties at home named Ash and Ori who we love very much.

What is your favorite thing about each other?
I love how funny Michael is and how he is so good at living in the moment.
I love how absolutely genuine and personable Katie is. She exudes charisma and I can’t help but be attracted to her.

How did the proposal go? Who proposed to who, were you surprised?
Katie basically knew that it was going to happen. I decided to propose to her in City Park in New Orleans. Ever since I’ve met her New Orleans has just come to mean so much to us. I was nervous as all get-out. Finally found a great spot In the park, got down on one knee, and I feel like before I could say anything, Katie had already said yes and started tearing up.

Where was your ceremony held and why did you pick this site?
Audubon Tea Room garden area – we thought it was such a beautiful site the first time we visited! We love the huge oak tree and all of the greenery.

Where was your Reception held and why did you pick this site?
Inside the Audubon Tea Room. It’s such a beautiful venue and we love the uptown area of New Orleans, so it was the perfect location!

We had specialty cocktails named after each of our cats – Ash and Ori – and the groom’s cake was also modeled after our couch at home with the cats sitting on top after destroying part of it. Our guestbook was an album of our engagement photos for people to write in. And we had photos of our grandparents (all of whom have passed away) surrounding our guestbook. We had a second-line band that sent us off at the end of the night as well.

Pick one moment in the day that was your favorite thing?
We absolutely loved our first look. It was such a special and emotional moment for both of us.

Did it really go by as quickly as everyone says?
Yes!!!! Even adding an extra hour to our reception, we still felt like the day flew by!

What was the inspiration behind picking the color palette and decor that you picked?
We both love very classic, timeless, and minimal decor and colors. The bridesmaids all wore taupe dresses and we had white flowers with lots of greenery. Blue is Michael’s favorite color, so he and his groomsmen all wore navy and dark blue suits.

From Katie – When you first saw Michael, what were you thinking/feeling?
I was filled with so many emotions and immediately thought “This is my husband!” It was such a beautiful moment.

From Michael – When you first saw Katie, what were you thinking/feeling?
I was overjoyed and thought that she continued to be the most beautiful person I’ve ever known. She looked so incredible and gorgeous.

Who was your baker, what was the flavor of your cake? Was it delicious?!
Totally Baked Bakery did our cakes and they were DELICIOUS! The wedding cake was berry chantilly flavored!

Did you do a first look? If so how did you feel about it? If not, do you wish you had?
Yes, and we are so glad we did! It was probably one of our favorite moments of the day.

Did you have a coordinator or did you plan everything yourself? If you didn’t have a coordinator any advice for brides planning their own wedding?
We had a ton of help from our venue coordinator, but Michael and I truly planned most of the wedding ourselves! Just try to stay organized and don’t be afraid to ask your family and friends for help!

What was your first dance song? Why this song?
We chose “Dream A Little Dream of Me” by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. It was one of the first songs we heard playing when we walked into an Airbnb in the Garden District a few years ago. And then we asked the jazz trio at Commander’s Palace brunch to play it for us at our table that weekend. It has been our song ever since.

Band or DJ? Did they rock it?
Toast DJ
Knockaz Brass Band – they did our second line to end the night and they were amazing!

We want to hear YOUR advice for future brides.
Don’t stress over the little details. No one will know if those things aren’t right/didn’t go as planned except for you! Enjoy the night and remember it’s all about you and your future husband!

We work really hard to help come up with a timeline and plan for the portrait list to make sure you are getting the most out of your day. How useful was this for you?
This was incredibly helpful! Corine was so incredibly organized, and she made sure we did not miss a beat on our big day! We got all of the special photos we wanted and more, and we were more than on time for the wedding ceremony!
