How did you meet?
John and I were both raised around showing livestock and have always showed against one another so we’ve somewhat known each other since we were young. It wasn’t until we were in the same Driver’a Ed class that we really go to know each other and started dating not long after.

Include a little bit about yourselves. What do you do?
John is currently a nurse at Thibodaux Regional and is in the process of applying to school to become a Nurse Anesthetist. I teach science courses at East Ascension High School.

How did the proposal go? Who proposed to who, were you surprised?
John proposed to me on my 23rd birthday at a crawfish boil in front of my family and friends. I definitely wasn’t expecting it!

Where was your ceremony held and why did you pick this site?
Our ceremony was at St. Joseph Church in Paulina. This is the church I grew up going to and have made all of my sacraments at so it was no question that I would be married there as well.

What unique or special things did you do at the reception?
It wasn’t really planned until the moment before, but I drank spiked Kool-Aid jammers with my bridesmaids right before my first dance with John. We went to Nashville for my bachelorette trip and discovered how to inject alcohol into the pouches. One of my bridesmaids were able to make them for us for the day! We also had light up tambourines which I thought made the reception so much fun.

Did it really go by as quickly as everyone says?
Yes it does! The day of and the days prior went by so fast. I do feel that I was able to take in every moment, though and it never felt rushed. It was the most perfect night.

Who was your baker, what was the flavor of your cake? Was it delicious?!
A local baker, Mrs. Cindy Nosacka, baked both of our cakes. Our first two layers of the cake was Funfetti and it was the best! I’m not much of a cake person but I love funfetti cake so I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Did you do a first look? If so how did you feel about it? If not, do you wish you had?
We didn’t do a first look and I wouldn’t have changed anything about the way we did it! I loved seeing his face as I walked down the isle.

Did you have a coordinator or did you plan everything yourself? If you didn’t have a coordinator any advice for brides planning their own wedding?
My mom and I planned everything ourselves. It definitely gets overwhelming and stressful but try to enjoy every minute! It will all turn out beautifully no matter what.

What was your first dance song? Why this song?
Our first dance song was “Grow Old” by Florida Georgia Line. We both cried the first time I showed it to John. Since that moment, I may tried to show John other possible songs for our first dance but John never budged.

Band or DJ? Did they rock it?
Band! Party @ Joe’s and they definitely rocked it!

We want to hear YOUR advice for future brides.
My advice for future brides is to not sweat the small stuff and just enjoy the ride. There are so many things and minor details you can get caught up in but don’t let it take away the joy of being engaged. Everything will turn out perfect!!
